Keeping ourselves Covid safe

Mask check: FFP3 Facemasks

This article will be about the different ways covid conscious people keep ourselves safe.

Although many governments have declared the Covid-19 pandemic is over, this does not mean the SARS-CoV-2 virus, (the virus that causes Covid-19 in humans) has disappeared. This was reiterated by the Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in December 2024, “We cannot talk about COVID in the past tense. It’s still with us, it still causes acute disease and “long COVID”, and it still kills.

On average this year, about 1000 deaths from COVID-19 have been reported to WHO each week – and that’s just from the few countries that are still reporting.

A Multi-layered Approach

Covid-19 is the name given to the illness that is caused by contracting the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Some of the ways people in the “Covid Aware” or “Covid Conscious” community continue to protect themselves from contracting Covid-19 are by taking a number of mitigations, also known as a Multi-layered Approach, such as: Regular testing, this could be through by taking lateral flow tests, polymerase chain reaction test or the PCR tests, or the Pluslife SARS-CoV-2 Nucleic Acid Rapid Test Kit; Keeping up to date with vaccinations; Wearing high quality FFP3 Facemasks; Through using air quality monitors; Far UV lights; and or The use of high quality air filters. When these measures are used together they can help to significantly reduce to risk of contracting the Covid-19.

The mutli-layered approach described above helps provide more protection for those who do not want to contract covid-19 and those who are at a higher risk of serious illness after contracting covid-19.

Facemask review

In today’s article I will focus on reviewing three different Filtering Facepiece 3 (FFP3 Facemask).

  1. The first face mask is, the Purples’s FFP3 Protective Butterfly Mask 0370, Q3 BK. It’s a well fitting mask for me, unfortunately, it’s no longer being made. The fit is secure and it does not fog up my glasses, when I wear it and when I go out. The mask also comes with with a small plastic clip, the clip can be used to secure the elastic ear straps together. This is helpful because, for some people the ear straps can cause irritation or tension behind the ears, which some people may find uncomfortable. The mask comes in the colours: Black and White.

  2. The second face mask is Yinuotong FFP3, this mask comes in white, for me it doesn’t have the best fit, because it’s a little small for my face. I would use it if cleaning at home, but not if I had to leave the house. Colour: White.

  3. Easimask is an FFP3 face mask that is approved for use if one must use an MRI machine. The one I used was a medium. It was tight, but I needed it fast fast, so I was unable to get a large mask. It is a head strap style mask, therefore, there are two elastic straps that go around the back of your head to keep the mask secure.

Wearing a well fitting FFP3 facemask is vital piece of protective equipment to help reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19. However, it is equally important to ensure you purchase your masks from reputable business. {{PPEO}}; and {{The_Facemask_store}} are two businesses you can consider purchasing your facemasks from.
